You can play Epic Games Store titles on the Steam Deck in 2025 using third-party tools like Heroic Games Launcher or by manually installing the Epic Games Launcher with Proton compatibility. This allows you to access and play your Epic library, including exclusive titles and free games, directly on your Steam Deck [2] [3] [8] [4].
Key details:
- Heroic Games Launcher is the most recommended method. It is open-source, has native Linux support, integrates Epic and GOG accounts, and handles the necessary Wine/Proton setup internally for Windows-based games [2] [3] [4].
- To use it, switch the Steam Deck to Desktop Mode, install Heroic via the Discover Software Center ("Heroic Games Launcher"), log in with your Epic credentials, and install your games. You can then add the Heroic launcher and/or individual Epic games to your Steam Library to access them from gaming mode [2] [3].
- Alternatively, you can install the official Epic Games Launcher using Proton (Valve’s Windows compatibility layer), update compatibility settings as needed, and return to game mode for a unified experience [8] [7].
- Most current guides and community recommendations from 2025 continue to endorse these methods, with ongoing compatibility improvements and a smoother experience, especially with Proton GE [2] [3] [8].
- There is no official Epic Games Store app for SteamOS or the Steam Deck, so third-party solutions remain necessary as of 2025 [2] [8].
You’ll have access to your Epic library, cross-platform cloud saves (for supported games), and can easily integrate non-Steam games into your Steam Deck interface. Using a microSD is recommended for game installs, and you can customize controller layouts with Steam’s configuration tools [2].
