The Gmail IMAP settings for 2025 are as follows:
- Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): imap.gmail.com
- Requires SSL/TLS: Yes
- Port: 993
- Username: Your full Gmail email address (e.g., [email protected])
- Password: Your Gmail password or app-specific password if 2-step verification is enabled
To enable IMAP in Gmail (if not already enabled by default), go to your Gmail account settings:
- Click the gear icon and choose "See all settings"
- Select the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab
- Find the "IMAP access" section and select "Enable IMAP"
- Save changes
For sending emails via SMTP, use:
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
- Requires TLS/SSL: Yes
- Port: 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)
- Username and password same as incoming IMAP
Note that from January 2025 onwards, in personal Google accounts, IMAP access is always enabled without the option to disable it manually, meaning you might not need to enable it in settings anymore [1] [2] [3] [5] [6]. Google also supports OAuth 2.0 authorization for IMAP and SMTP access for improved security [7].
These parameters will allow you to set up Gmail with your preferred email client while keeping your emails synced across multiple devices in real time.
