Impostazioni IMAP di Gmail nel 2025

The Gmail IMAP server settings for 2025 remain:

• IMAP server address: imap.gmail.com
• Port: 993
• SSL: Required
• Username: Your full Gmail address
• Password: Your Gmail password (see caveats below) ^{[1] [2] [4]}.

However, there are significant authentication changes in 2025:

• Starting January 2025, you can no longer enable or disable IMAP manually in Gmail settings; IMAP access is now always on or controlled at the admin level for business accounts ^[6].
• After January 2025, Gmail no longer supports “Less secure apps” or app-specific passwords for IMAP access. OAuth (a more secure authentication standard) is now required for all third-party apps and clients connecting via IMAP, POP, or SMTP ^[10]. This means traditional username/password logins (even with app passwords) will fail unless the client supports OAuth2 authentication ^[10].

To connect your Gmail account to any email client via IMAP in 2025:

• Make sure your email client supports OAuth2 for authentication.
• Use the above server and port details.
• Enter your Gmail address as your username.
• When prompted for authentication, follow the OAuth2 sign-in workflow (the client may redirect you to a Google login window).

If you are using legacy systems or devices that do not support OAuth2, they will no longer be able to connect to Gmail via IMAP as of early 2025 ^[10]. For Google Workspace (business) accounts, administrators can set IMAP access policies in the Admin Console ^[5].

These changes apply to both personal Gmail and Google Workspace (business/education) accounts.

Important caveat: If your app or device does not support OAuth2, it will not be able to connect to Gmail IMAP from 2025 onwards ^[10].
