To reset a Google Home Mini or Nest Mini in 2025, follow these steps (methods depend on the generation of your device):
Google Home Mini (1st Generation):
- Make sure the device is plugged in.
- Find the small, round reset button on the bottom of the device, under the power cord.
- Press and hold this button for about 15 seconds.
- You’ll hear a chime or Google Assistant confirming the reset is starting. Keep holding until you hear confirmation.

Google Nest Mini (2nd Generation):
- Plug in your Nest Mini.
- First, turn off the microphone using the switch on the side.
- Press and hold the center of the device (on the top, where the four activity lights appear).

After resetting, all data and settings will be erased, and the device will need to be set up again from scratch in the Google Home app [2] [4]. Only perform a factory reset as a last resort, since it wipes your preferences and account information.
