In 2025, several Android custom ROMs remain popular and actively developed, offering many devices updated Android versions beyond manufacturer support. Here are some of the best Android ROMs for 2025:
-
LineageOS: The most well-known and widely supported custom ROM, based on AOSP. It supports over 200 devices and recently released version 22.1 based on Android 15 QPR1, with version 23.2 (Android 16) expected in late 2025. It provides a stable base for both standalone use and as a foundation for other ROMs [5].
-
EvolutionX: Known for its extensive customization options combined with stability. It has shifted from pure AOSP to being based on LineageOS for better stability. EvolutionX 10 supports Android 15 on a range of devices [5].
-
Project Elixir: Aesthetic and feature-rich, close to stock Android with Pixel-like features, and supports many devices. Offers timely updates. The latest Android 15 version is available with a Patreon subscription for beta users [5].
-
PixelOS: Offers a Pixel-like interface with essential utilities prioritizing stability over excessive features. It supports various brands and is updating to Android 15, currently available on a limited device set [5].
-

-
Bliss ROM: Offers customization focused on performance, battery life, and visual enhancements through its Blissify settings panel. The version 18 update brings Android 15 support for select devices, including some popular older models [5].
-
Xiaomi.eu: A debloated version of Xiaomi’s HyperOS without ads or bloatware, aimed at Xiaomi devices exclusively [5].
Custom ROMs in 2025 continue to extend the life and feature set of Android devices beyond official updates, often allowing devices launched years ago to run the latest Android versions like Android 15 or upcoming Android 16. They also bring customization and privacy features that stock ROMs may lack. Despite some challenges from manufacturers, the custom ROM community remains vibrant [4] [5].
If you want the latest builds for specific devices, custom ROM download pages often let you search by device codename and manufacturer to find compatible ROMs, for example, crDroid or LineageOS official sites. Tutorials and YouTube videos also guide installation [1] [4] [8].
In summary, the top custom Android ROMs in 2025 include LineageOS, EvolutionX, Project Elixir, PixelOS, crDroid, Bliss ROM, and Xiaomi.eu, many of which have embraced Android 15 and plan transitions to Android 16 throughout the year [5]. They remain a popular option for users seeking more frequent updates, customization, and better control over their devices [4].
