- Press the Win and X keys simultaneously.
- Choose Disk Management from the menu that appears.
- In Disk Management, right-click on the partition you want to rename.
- Select the Change Drive Letter and Paths option from the context menu.
- Click on Change in the Change Drive Letter and Paths window.
- After clicking on the icon of the external device to change the letter, right-click and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths" from the drop-down menu.
The partitions or logical drives on the basic disk are transformed into simple volumes on the dynamic disk when they are converted to a dynamic disk. Dynamic volumes cannot be converted back to partitions after the conversion to a dynamic disk.
To rename a drive or partition, follow these steps:
- Create and format hard disk partitions in Windows.
- Right-click on the drive or partition and select the Change Drive Letter and Paths option.
- Click on Change in the Change Drive Letter and Paths window.

To open Disk Management in Windows 7, follow these steps:
- Click on the Computer Management icon in the Administrative Tools window.
- On the left, you will find a bar with a selection of options; choose the Disk Management icon.
- Note: If you can’t find it, it is under the "Storage" section.
To rename a USB flash drive with Windows 10, follow these steps:
- Insert the USB flash drive into the computer’s USB port.
- Using File Explorer, locate the name of the flash drive.
- Right-click on the flash drive with the name.
- Select Rename with the left mouse button.
- Press Enter after entering the new name for the flash drive.
To restore an internal hard disk, follow these steps:
- Right-click on the item and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
- Manage the drive letters associated with the unit from the opened dialog box.
- Click on Change after selecting the currently associated drive letter.
