To install Windows 11 on older computers, you can create a bootable DVD or USB using the Media Creation Tool. Microsoft states that this method allows you to bypass the TPM 2.0 requirement, but at least a TPM 1.2 chip is required.
To check TPM on Windows 10, follow these steps:
- Search for "tpm.msc" in the Windows search bar and click Open.
- The local computer will have the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Management window open. You will see "TPM ready for use" under the Status entry if TPM is available and activated on your PC.
To enable TPM in Asus BIOS, follow these steps:
- Go to the "Advanced" options in Asus BIOS.
- Select "AMD fTPM Configuration" to enable TPM. It will display "Firmware TPM".
- On an older ASUS B450 BIOS firmware, you will find the "PCH-FW Configuration" parameter and select "TPM Device Selection".
To activate TPM in HP BIOS after updating to the latest version, follow these steps:
- Update the target notebook to the latest BIOS version using the HP website.
- Enable TPM in the Security section after configuring the BIOS settings.
To enable Secure Boot in Windows 11, follow these steps:
- Press Esc, Delete, or one of the function keys (F1, F2, F10) to enter the boot or security settings.
- Open the boot or security settings page.
- Select Secure Boot and press Enter.
- Choose the "Enabled" option and press Enter.
