Boot Camp e Apple Silicon

Boot Camp is not supported and cannot be used to install Windows natively on any Mac with an M-series (Apple Silicon) chip, including M1 models, as of 2025 [5] [9] [6]. Boot Camp remains limited to Intel-based Macs only [1] [3]. Apple provides no official mechanism or driver support for running Windows via Boot Camp on Apple Silicon Macs, and there is no indication from Apple or Microsoft that this will change soon [4] [6] [9].

For users who wish to run Windows on M1 or other M-series Macs, alternatives exist:

  • Virtualization: You can run Windows 11 ARM in a virtual machine using apps like Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion [5] [7]. These solutions offer good performance and compatibility for most use cases, but do not provide true dual boot or full bare-metal access to the hardware [4] [5] [7].
  • No official dual-boot: As of now, there are no officially supported dual-boot methods (like Boot Camp) for Windows on Apple Silicon, and technical or licensing barriers remain [4] [10].

Intel-based Macs remain the only Apple computers that support Boot Camp to install Windows directly on hardware [1] [3]. M1 and newer Apple Silicon Macs do not, and are unlikely to in the near future without significant changes from Apple or Microsoft [4] [9] [6].
